Nestled in a charming old building on Strada Profesor Dr. Mihail Georgescu 23 in București, PengYou Restaurant & Lounge offers an inviting haven for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine. This cozy spot pairs a nostalgic ambiance with a thoughtful, extensive menu that truly honors the rich flavors of China.
From the moment you step inside, the peaceful vibe—enhanced by calming music and enticing aromas—immediately sets you at ease. The interior décor is carefully curated, blending traditional elements with an inviting lounge atmosphere, making it ideal for both intimate dinners and relaxed gatherings. The choice of loose-leaf teas instead of the standard tea bags speaks volumes about the attention to detail and the elevated dining experience PengYou aims to provide.
The menu is a delightful journey through Chinese culinary classics. Noteworthy is the beef in a clay pot—a tender, slow-cooked dish that perfectly harmonizes with the accompanying fragrant rice enriched with flavorful mushrooms. These dishes showcase a balance of textures and subtle seasoning, delighting your palate without overwhelming it. For fans of bold flavors and generous portions, the spicy dishes paired with a cold Tsingtao beer create a pleasing contrast, adding a lively kick to your meal.
Portion sizes are notably generous, ideal for sharing among friends or savoring over multiple sittings—highlighting PengYou’s commitment to offering value without compromising quality. While some desserts, like the extra-large sweet donuts, might lean towards indulgence, they offer a fun and satisfying conclusion to your dining experience.
Customer impressions resonate with a common theme: this restaurant stands apart from the typical Chinese eateries in Bucharest. The nostalgic charm of the old villa setting, combined with attentive service and a relaxed, private atmosphere, invites patrons to truly immerse themselves in the meal. Some guests do point out that the flavors may at times be milder than expected, but this gentle approach caters beautifully to those who appreciate subtlety over intensity.
Overall, PengYou Restaurant & Lounge is a delightful spot for anyone seeking a genuine and calming Chinese dining experience in Bucharest. Its combination of authentic cuisine, thoughtful ambiance, and hospitable service makes it a memorable destination that invites you to savor both tradition and comfort.

Little cozy place situated quite central in Bucharest but still on a secondary street. The old building gives a somewhat nostalgic vibe and should be considered a plus rather than a disadvantage. Don't judge too harsh the appearance of the location, you can enjoy the experience if you are willing to overlook the lack of perfection whilst on the premisses. The food is better than in other Chinese restaurants in Bucharest but a greater care and more work should be put in preparing the rice with eggs so it doesn't feel as if an omelette was just put over some rice.

Good food, interesting decor, decent prices. I ordered beef in a clay pot, which matched really well with the rice with flavoured mushrooms. It was a fine experience.

Food is delicious and portions are very big, you can easily have 2 plates for 3 people, or 1 plate for 2 if you are not that hungry. I give 4 stars because deserts like the little donuts are very very sweet and extra large as portion (what you see in the photo is what's left from 3 people already serving). Tsingtao beer is perfect with the spicy food!

Tucked in an old building, this place has a peaceful vibe with calming music and lovely smells drifting in from the street. There was an extensive beverage selection, and I enjoyed that they offer loose-leaf teas rather than tea bags for a more refined experience. The menu is vast and it will indeed take some time to make a decision but you can also check the online menu but some of the prices didn't seem kept up to date. The Sichuan-style beef was a bit chewy and the sauce didn't quite hit the mark, but the pork dish totally rocked with its delicious flavor and big portion. The dessert was amazing, both in presentation and flavor, making it the most memorable part of the meal. I'm excited to return and explore more of the menu, and this review will continue to evolve. The restroom was maintained well, reflecting a decent level of cleanliness, especially considering it was the end of the day. It's worth noting that the restaurant was relatively quiet on a Tuesday evening, likely due to many people opting for takeout.

If u r looking for Chinese food in town - u definitely need to come here! I appreciate a lot that this restaurant is located in old beautiful villa, inside its nicely decorated (not like other Chinese restaurants in Bucharest which I visited and which looked like canteens in students campus). I made some pictures of menu to understand the price range if this restaurant, bcz when I was planning my visit I couldn't find this information nowhere. Also I must admit that they have really very big menu (I guess more than 70 positions!). And I liked friendly and polite stuff and good service.
